Unhealthy Love

I am a prisoner

In this war of love

He is the thin soup

With chunks of rotted vegetables

I am ashamed of my need for him

I am humiliated daily by

My want of him

Unable to change the circumstances

However my body needs sustenance

And the meager strength he provides

Even as I choke it down greedily

Retching and grateful

Cher, I often wish we could control our hearts, as well, but perhaps it would make the world a boring place, no? Thanks for the kind comments!

It's amazing how love is like a drug...Even if it is bad for you, draining your life force from you, still you must have it. And you conveyed this here wonderfully! -Spence

The heart wants what the heart wants...reason so very seldom enters the equation...a very mature and human write....

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
