    Hmmm... :)

    Life of a Teen (Teens in a Nutshell)

     So when you're a teen,
    there's not much you think about...
    Maybe a job, definitely that guy or girl,
    how you despise your dad or mom...

    But nothing of real substance.

    You care about the newest phone,
    newest clothes, and how they fit...
    Where to get your first piercing,
    ears, eyebrow, or lip...

    You don't think of consequences...

    You crave for a drivers license,
    and a brand new shiny car...
    You aren't ever "going to be",
    you are always "are"...

    If that even makes sense...

    You fall in love too quickly,
    and yet, not fast enough...
    You might just have met them
    but you will swear it is love...

    Oh sweet fickle hearts we have...

    You get curious about things,
    sex, drugs, rock and roll...
    You are always teetering on the edge,
    not wanting to be an outcast, just to be cool...

    You never think of not taking the dive...

    ... So when youre a teen
    there's not much you really think about...
    Just you...
    Your life...
    Living in the now...

    And when you do the things you do...

    Adults always wonder "why?"

    Very true poem! I always live in "going to be" not "are" & that's what gave me trouble growing up (thinking I felt older and more aware than I was). Great poem because whether that's how you or I think, it's the general age groups' mental state. You captured it well.

    I think, and am sure others here agree with me, that it will be marvelous indeed to watch you as you mature. You are quite insightful - and not in comparison to others your age, but in comparison to most of humanity. to see the shallowness so typical to teens so clearly, and yet at the same time recognize that it is not cause for alarm - that is wisdom. And you are unique. 10

    If you follow the group then who are you ? Find yourself and be true to that person . For in the end you are the one who has to answer for your actions so why not make them kind and good actions Marie

    Hey kiddo, I'll tell you what I did. I decided, very early on in my adolescence, that every day I was going to do something "selfless" - some act of kindness that benefited somebody else, but not me. I've kept that promise all my life. That kind of a life style leads you down some paths not frequented by the heard, but, when you get to your old age, at least you'll have plenty to write about! hehe. But whatever you do keep writing my friend!
