    The Sweetest...

     I sat and watched
    a mother and her newborn
    sitting together,
    a blanket on the ground...

    The mother herself
    was fairly young,
    with faint dark circles
    and a smile full of love...

    The child had her eyes,
    green and blue,
    and her hair,
    tufts of a light-brown hue...

    The babe began to cry
    when a crowd of kids started yelling...
    The sight of the mother quieting her
    was really quite compelling...

    She held her lightly,
    like she was going to break,
    but protective too,
    as she leaned down, whispering...

    The baby smiled,
    a toothless grin,
    and the mother smiled back;
    all was well again...

    Tucked in her blanket
    the baby fell asleep...
    The mother smiled up at me...

    "Isnt she the sweetest thing?"

    ... And I said "yes."

    I love dthis but then I am nuts about babies. THey call to me... My first peoms were aboout babies. I would llike for you to read them.
