ALONE
ALONE
by Dori Wheeler
The tears roll down my cheek
Like waterfalls splashing on the rocks
I may be sad, but I am not meek
My nest is empty, baby birds flew away
I'm so alone, but for the cat
She is all I have this particular day
I'm the same woman I was twenty years ago
Some say I look even better now
Then why can't I find love, why is this so?
I feel as I am destined to be alone
Like animals that are only there long enough
To make a tiny clone
Nothing glamorous about being a single mom
Too many hats have to be worn
We'll do most anything to keep it calm
All this time living with me
Has taught me great lessons
Things I would never learn from a he
I am in love with being in love
My heart has so much to give
The right man will fit just like a glove
'Til that time, I am so alone!
