"A SHOVEL FULL"
A SHOVEL FULL
{By Dori Wheeler 31aug09}
I was told, way back when,
It takes perserverience and patience
To move a mountain, and only then
As a person in recovery, I've heard this before
Maintaining sobriety is the mountain I must move
I can't do it overnight, it takes it's time, that's for sure
The slogan says, "One Day at a Time"
I can only do what I can do
It's certainly not a nursery ryhme
It's something that you must work everyday
That is my mountain, a shovel full at a time
I hold my shovel tight, I don't want to give up,no way
I've seen so much in almost twenty years
So much to deal with
Things I couldn't do out of fear
My mountain is being moved a bit each day
It's not an easy task
Obstacles will get in the way
So enjoy each moment as if it's your last
It is hard work, but get's easier with time
Moving a mountain or sobriety can't be done fast
Just don't forget the rest of your life
You'll see your progress if you step back to see
Don't allow it to cause so much strife!
