Things Have Changed
Things Have Changed
The kids are grown
Things have changed
Now I've found
I'm all alone
Way back when
While thinking ahead
This wasn't my dream
I was in love back then
This is when I thought
There'd be more to life
Then being a mom
And someone's wife
The kids are not the only one's
Who have moved away
My husband is gone
I'm glad for that
Even to this day
Though my heart was ripped out
It wasn't my plan
To be all alone
Never thinking I'd be
Without even a man
Never looking behind
Or a twist of his head
My hubby ended up sleeping
In my best friend's bed
Though I'm still pretty
And still young
The time is now
For grandchildren to come
I've tried dating again
But things have changed
None of the rules
Are even close to the same
Two by two
Like Noah's Ark
Everywhere I go
It's what I embark
They say it is darkest
Before the dawn
I can attest to this
I just want to be gone
Each night I pray
Before I sleep
Take me tonight
Is what I weep
My kids think I'm deranged
They don't understand
How lonely I am
How things have changed!
The kids are grown
Things have changed
Now I've found
I'm all alone
Way back when
While thinking ahead
This wasn't my dream
I was in love back then
This is when I thought
There'd be more to life
Then being a mom
And someone's wife
The kids are not the only one's
Who have moved away
My husband is gone
I'm glad for that
Even to this day
Though my heart was ripped out
It wasn't my plan
To be all alone
Never thinking I'd be
Without even a man
Never looking behind
Or a twist of his head
My hubby ended up sleeping
In my best friend's bed
Though I'm still pretty
And still young
The time is now
For grandchildren to come
I've tried dating again
But things have changed
