"SHE LOVED RED ROSES"
"SHE LOVED RED ROSES"
Three years have passed, but still he mourns her everyday
Standing on the balcony where they first kissed
Overlooking the belltower, across the way
He awaits in the shadows in hopes she will show
As always, carrying that red rose she so adored
Maybe today will be the day, he just doesn't know
You see he carries such tremendous guilt
They were to meet that night, it was so very dark
Falling to her death, she lie covered up under that quilt
The love they shared was like none other
But, they were young, only in their early teens
This didn't sit so well with her mother
They scrambled to the chance to meet whenever they could
She sent a signal from the belltower to see if it was clear
He'd send a signal back if he thought they should
On this one misty night she didn't wait
She had to see him, she had news
Serious news that could seal their fate
Fate it did seal, but not how she thought
She was carrying his baby, and was about to tell
Thus the urgency to see him, she fought
Every year since her fatefull fall
She would show in spirit at that exact time
In the distance he could hear her usual call
Just like a fairytale, she would arrive to meet
To meet the love of her life and even her death
You'd have to see it for yourself to believe it
This time it was different when she came on that day
In spirit form, she was just as gorgeous he thought
Only today she came to tell him she must go away
She can no longer meet him for beloved red roses and her kiss
She was being called to the light finally
After all this time, she wants to stay, but this is something she can not miss
That was the very last time, the very last rose and the very last kiss
She moved on, with the tiny baby that was never born
He still waits each year, but knows inside, she will be forever missed!
