To the Tune of Ego's Denial
To the Tune of Ego’s Denial
Coming at you from the heart
We as humans for the most part
Are selfish and egotistical
Bordering on the strange and mystical
As we place our morality on inner shelves
Seeking lustful venues for ourselves
Going to church on Sunday
As our moral games we play
While Monday through Saturday
We go a different way
We spout out proudly our Christianity
As we try to cloak at the same time our insane vanity
We lambaste those who mistakes are out there
With little compassion or care
Whose humanness all can see
While we hide our faults in secrecy
Never realizing as hurtful things we say
God is stripping the secret covers away
Of all our sordid morbid things
So the world can see our sins
But yet many of us still go on
Singing our prideful, lustful song
With vain deceitful smile
To the tune of ego’s denial
