Your History Too
Black History, is my history
From all my people had to endure
Each and every indignity
Suffered from Mother Africa to this Nation’s Shore
Black history is the history
Of a thriving Agricultural nation
Building prosperity through slavery
On the backs of a people’ frustration
Black history is an unpopular legacy
Of how a nation that wants to define
Itself as a leader in Democracy
Yet to the open mind
The few crumbs that fall from the plantation table
That to the world we love so much to shout
Shows after all these years we are still unable
To true equality rave about
So yes Black History is my History
But the things you’ve done and subtly continue to do
That you can no longer pretend it a mystery
Black History is your History too
