Of Greed, Class, and Bigotry
There’s no enjoyment in unemployment
When you are the unemployed
No matter your race, the bitter torment
Leaves you anxious and annoyed
Though you may smile there’s nothing worthwhile
In being a slave on the plantation
I’m speaking of a lifestyle
That was once the Jim Crow nation
Where color of skin was a sin
To some who could only see
With racists eyes back then
Through dark sunshades of bigotry
But today in the home of the brave
It is now a reality
That every working class person is now a slave
In a plantation style economy
Where we produce goods for much less
Than our labor is actually worth
And through globalization this entire mess
Has spread throughout the earth
Though few if any thought it would
Combined with runaway greed
Overpricing of services and goods
Would make of little effect true need
So if we are to turn the page
To a new time of prosperity
Then we as a world must silence the rage
Of greed, class and bigotry
