    Baby Gurl---The saga continues

    Hello, this is Baby gurl

I finally found the time to call you

I wanted to see what you're up to

If you’re serious bout takin me out

I’m ready to see what you’re all about

Just to let u know; I’m not a materialistic gurl

So there’s no need for you to impress me with diamonds and pearls

I just got out of a bad relationship; my ex-boyfriend was a jerk

I gave him my all but he didn’t put in the work

My feelings for him grew bland

So I packed his bags and told him I may have found myself a real man

So brotha I hope you be true

Cuz I wanna start a new relationship with you

When we talked the other day

All I could do was think about you when you walked away

The lil voice inside me told me I may have a winner

So if you’re up to it, I’m ready to go out to dinner

    Here’s my street address

No need to dress up, cuz I won’t be impressed

Just be yourself and true to me

    And I will give all of myself to you;

    Maybe---

    We’ll see.

I imagined when I was reading this that my phone was to my ear listening to this message the author is sharing with me. I did not struggle with listening and thinking about how to advise my friend; it was to me like someone was leaving me the message. That is what writing authentically is all about, making it feel real to the reader. That takes craftsmanship other poets would do well to develop. It is a fine end to the saga, but don't you wish you got to know more about these two? Though the best writers often leave us to wonder. Thanks for a great work.

Hey seven this really happened to me. But guess wat he turned out to be a jerk to! But I love your work

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
