Poem Commentary

Ripped from the pages of my journal: July 24, 1993

Tagged and Labeled

Two-hundred years and still the black man is not free

Malcolm, Martin, Mandella; now me?

You labeled us as second class

When it was you who came after our ass

Think about it, because you know I’m right

Darkness came first then came the light

You labeled us as have not

What happened back then won’t be forgot

I’m tired of being tagged and labeled

God endowed us with greatness and we’re well able

Man was created equal

One was made, the others came sequel

It doesn’t matter who came first

The Devil knows who will get it the worse

I applaud that all men were created (or born) equa. When colorblindness is the norm, there will be no call for equal rights, because men will have attained harmony in culture and without envy of class. Obama is the Pres and that says alot about changes coming! Great gut-it-out, and clever, informative write. thanks for sharing!

Ah seems there is more to seven than meets the eye :P Motivational man. Eyes wide open. Gotta love the system and all it's stereotypical crafted bullshit. People thinkin they know you because of what they see on T.V. A poem that reminds me how much we tend to forget our own beauty. Enjoyed this read.

wow, seven i never expected this from u (not to be mean or sarcastic at all, but usually when im around u its always ur silly side i see) however in this poem i see ur depth and the realness inside of u....the meaning of this poem is very real and honestly i see it all around me and couldnt agree more...mainly though i see it and i just try my best to turn the other cheek thats all i can do at the moment...continue speaking up for the things around u that u see are wrong and let them know that ur aware that how they treat u isnt right and ur not going to stand for it...u got that spunk in u and this piece right here is just another example of how you use it..

This is good because it is true. Unfortunately...it is what it is and still is that way. The emotion in this piece is very real and I appreciate the honesty it holds. May the kudos be with you.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
