FIRST FLIGHT
I took flight beyond the clouds
I had no fear of height and I was somewhat proud
It was my first plane ride into the blue
So I dared not to look down or I was through
I felt the plane leave the ground as it slowly rise
I then tightly closed my eyes
My heart start’d racin’
My nerves start’d pacin'
Before I knew it; fear I was facin’
I gripped the plane’s seat with a frantic hold
The nerve of me to have a window seat; now that was bold
The plane shook as it taxied down the runway
I sunk into my seat and began to pray
We were airborne and peacefulness surround
Then a voice from the cockpit made a sound
The pilot announced we’re five-thousands feet off the ground
A passenger next to me commented, first flight?
I asked, was it obvious? As I gripped the seat with fright
I finally opened my eyes--the nerve of me
I peered out the window to witness not a sight of trees
Lord I was in the mist of your heavenly clouds
The noise of my beatin' heart was somewhat loud
Then I saw my life flash before me
I yawned; it was over on the count of three
Well If this plane crash at least I seen how my life been
Now I had another reason to pray again
Before I knew it we were about to land
Lord when we touched ground I got down and kissed the sand
My first flight was over and I was glad
To see it end I was almost sad---Not
Will I fly again? only God can tell
Maybe when frosty the snowman make it through hell
Don’t call me a chicken because I don’t wanna fly around
That’s not what I fear, it’s the crashin' on the way down
