    I saw this in my mind first - then wrote it. The picture in my mind was one of an Indian, felled.

    An Image of love and respect...

     The Cayuse stands in the evening light,
    head bowed low to the ground,
    nuzzling the hand of the companion.
    As the shadows deepen, neither will move.
    One will not...One cannot.

    I had an Indian in mind when I wrote it. I saw the picture in my mind.
