Poem Commentary

The wonderful signs of spring

Spring Haiku

     The frigid crystal
hanging on the window sill
     releases its grip

        The feeders go out
the warm air invites them all
     soon humming birds fly

          my patio warms
morning sun shines ever bright
       coffee now beckons

     The puddled water
cooled by the evening breezes
    shudders to stillness

Oh this is breath-taking! How warm and inviting this 'perfect Spring mood' you created is! Today where I live is chilly,actually..like 40-ish I think! After reading this, I am just aching to go out and enjoy the sunshine on a blankie somewhere, thanks to you..in my mind-I can!! big springtime hugz,Maddi

The wonderful thing about Colorado Springs is that the weather is varied - it is never boring. The drier air makes hot not so hot, and cold not so cold. I appreciate your comments.

I love the way you combined three Haiku's together. You have a very special way with your poetry. I have the coffee on for my husband at seven-fifteen every morning. After I make it, I then boil it to ensure that it is hot enough to burn a hole in your lip. What can I say?...He like's it that way. We also put honey in ours with cream. Yummmm. How do you take yours?

Cream in coffee - ain't good fer ya. Coffee is a food, but not with cream - So says Edgar Cayce. Sugar is OK, but so many of the things we eat [even caned foods] ares loaded with sugar. I now drink my cofffee b l a c k. I think all coffee is good. It just depends on how many sips it takes until it starts tasting good. Sometimes right away - sometimes 18 sips [and always when one is traveling...'-).

" The puddled water cooled by the evening breezes shudders to stillness" — masterful surrealism! Bravo!!

Thank you d. Jump in any time...The water's fine.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
