Poem Commentary

Just musings on what might be coming.

ARE THERE TREES in the Afterlife?

Will there be greens in Spring,
and Autumn colors later on?
Will there be warm Summers, and crisp Falls?
Will there be aromas, and no smells?
Will there be children playing
and laughter in the air?
Will there be flowers that bloom all the time?
Will there be a sun with saturated sunsets?
Will there dogs and cats and animals to find?
Will there be lakes and water falls,
and valleys with mountains to climb?

And will there be rain, and snow?
'Cause if there aren't - I don't think I want to go.

Will there be kindness, and gentleness and love?
Will people still hold hands?
Will there be hugs and kisses too?
Will it be without bugs,
so birds can eat berries instead?
Will I be able to plant if I want?
Will there be music everywhere,
and a song upon our lips?
Will we be free to think out thoughts?
Will the sky be blue?
Will there be loved ones there?
Will there be things to do?

And will there be football and beer?
'Cause if there aren't - I think I'll stay right here.

This is great stuff WO, I love it. The closing line is a classic.

Of course - all us men think that! Thanks for the early comment.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
