    Poem Commentary

A dumb little ditty with which I had fun. I should have just had another cup of coffee.

    The Royal Drink

It doesn't matter it tastes so bitter
That first taste upon the lips
Each taste gets so much better
Until the coffee is gone in sips

Ive tasted the brands through out the world
When it comes to coffee I guess I'm a hog
But the only coffee I couldn't drink
Was in a bath tub for a frog

                   ---------------

I could eat chicken every day of the week
But I also love turkey, roast beef and lamb
With potatoes, beets and green beans
And a gigantic slice of Virginia ham

But the drink that goes so well with all
the Royal beverage - fit for me
Is a hot and rousing cup
of my favorite roast - coffee

The French make a tart little brew of joe but I suspect you will not want my recipe for cassoulet de tofu. Drew.

It sounded just fine until I got to the part about 'tofu.'

I get set for coffee [10 cups] the night before, and awaken to its aroma the next morning. It's a great way to start the day. Thanks for the visit.

I could have written this poem! I love everything you so eloquently praised. I also tell people that I could eat chicken every day of the week! How funny. When my husband and I were young we decided to learn to like our coffee black. I learned to like it very much like that...my husband didn't. He was not happy that I was drinking black coffee when he needed cream and sugar, I could tell. So I went back to the old way of drinking it, in order to soothe his wounded (young) male pride. lol I would never drink coffee that was for a frog in a tub either!!! We are so much alike! By the way, I noticed that Richard called you a conservative. A conservative what might I ask...??

I learned to drink coffee in the Army. It was winter in the Ozarks, and it was a coffee break. My folks drank coffee with cream and sugar, but I passed it up. The next break I held the coffee cup in my hands to get them warm, and threw it out. Then I added sugar and drank it. Drank it with sugar for quite a few years, until I read that sugar was added to so many things. I have been drinking it black for many years now, and would never think of sweetening coffee or tea now. Politically Conservative. I honor our Constitution. Thanks for your comments, L.

I was reared on ice tea, with sugar. Mom and Dad had sugar and cream in their coffee. Now I drink everything - 'neat.'-)
