    Sometimes it's more fun to miss

    DRAGON SLAYER

    Quiet
    Quiet were the days
    Quiet were the nights
    Quiet were the Sunday drives

    Oh - there were marbles
    And climbing trees
    And shooting my hand made slingshot
    Evenings there was radio - and homework

    Stealthy I hunted in the woods
    There - a robin high on a branch
    I took aim with my 'Dragon Slayer'
    Releasing a rock - I hit the robin

    I kept my slingshot
    I brought out tin cans
    I stuck suckers in tree bark
    But I never again aimed at a living thing

    I like this thought provoking poem. I can't imagine you killing a little bird. I'm sure you wish you never had. lol Nice Bill. I am going to read more of you in the morning, and I am looking forward to it.

    Awe poor birdie!!lol, This is a delightful walk thro' your boyhood. Now, I was quite a shot myself.. my slingshot had a home in my pocket- until the day the nuns at the school I attended caught me 'slaying' my dragon- Tommy(he teased me relentlessly) in the back of the pants at lunch recess! I still feel that ruler on my palms..lol!- thank you for sharing this tale, so flawlessly!- hugz,Maddi

    How wonderful to find another DS artist. I wonder how the Nuns figured a ruler to the front or back of the hands coincided with 'God's Will?'
