    TO THE THOUGHTFUL

    Everywhere I look
    I see longing in the faces
    of miserable men

    Called by different names,
    the longing for money, position,
    possession, the need to help,
    the need to belong...
    Yet the longing is really the desire
    to understand the Real,
    the Universal...the ALL.

    Man strives to be united with
    spouse, friends, family;
    with most everything he touches
    Man strives for Union.
    Symbolic of his longing to be
    united with ALL.

    Yet, everything is inadequate,
    and unfulfilling, along side
    the union with the ONE.

    Until that union is sought
    above all else,
    there will be longing in the faces
    of miserable men.
