    Poem Commentary

Dedicated to all who still love...

    A New and Lasting Love

I know that we have hardly met
We haven't even kissed, and yet
I feel that once forgotten zing
    Of that wonderfully wild something
         Rising in my heart

Yet, if we're in the standard trend
Our love it seems will one day end
One will foolishly do, or say
We'll drift a part and go our way
         Then once more the dark

Oh, my dear - let's keep our love fresh
And touch much deeper than mere flesh
Can we not this time hold on strong
And make this last our whole life long
         Let us keep the spark

May we love now without regret
    Accept our love in retrospect
And as we dedicate our days
To keep our love in all its ways
         Rising in our hearts

I wrote it as a contrast - Could a love be new AND lasting? Glad you found it and enjoyed it.

Awww...Oh, oh Stryx, this is on the same scale as your Christmas story. There is a special gentle (or should I say tender?) quality laced with wisdom in your writing. I will have to add this to my favorites.

Thank you so much for visiting my humble abode. And I say - wherever you see beauty - know that beauty is within you, or you would never recognize it

I love this novel poem dedicated to not merely the acquiring, but the keeping of love. Great style and delivery as always! Thank you for sharing your work and perspectives!

Thank you Sam. Love can be so fleeting, and we contribute to its flight, even when we want it to never end...

    Thanks again Td.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
