As I Slept
As I sleep, I can feel you nearRubbing my back, I feel I have nothing to fear
On my pillow, falls a tear
You've lifted the weight, I've carried this past year
I can hear you whisper in my ear, "it'll be alright
For me to sleep, sleep like I never have before tonight
Even though I can hear this, I can't say anything
You say you're proud of my accomplishments, and the joy I bring
How I've grown to be the man, you've always expected
That mistakes are to be made, as long as I respect it
Correct what went wrong, and strive for better
As I dream I see you there, wearing this wool sweater
You wipe my tears, but they continue to fall
You tell me you love me, then disappear through the wall
As I slept, the sleep you said
I felt this sense of comfort, last night in my bed
