Dear Mama
Dear mama, I remember the tearsThe pain and suffering, for so many years
Hearing your cries, clearly through the wall
Trying to walk to you, but to my knees I fall
No heat in the house, it's so cold
"It'll be alright", I remember you told
Me that day, sitting out on the stoop
As we watched my friend in the court yard, shooting hoops
Somehow your words, always made it seem better
But the tears continued to fall, my shirt got wetter
Remember when you heard, I was selling those drugs
When the neighbors said, I was one of those thugs
In the detention center, you were always there
For every visit, always showed you cared
Doing my best, to fight back my tears
Scared thinking of the case, but showed no fears
Admiring you, for the strength you had
Already my mother, and standing in as a dad
Never did I, want to let you down
So I keep my head to the sky, my feet on the ground
Even now I'm successful, you see me through
Unconditional love mom, I love you
