We Fight
The air is hotSurrounded by nothing but dirt
In the distance are shots
Missile in the air I'm clearly alert
"IN COMING"
One of my brothers yell
Everyone running
Covering our heads as we fell
Looking for cover
I can hear bullets fly by
Bombs bursting like thunder
Brightening the night sky
"HELP ME"
I hear someone cry
Limbs missing, no longer healthy
Screaming "I don't want to die"
Ears ringing
M-60 roars as it lets out it's wrath
Skin is stinging
From ricochet of rounds hitting sand
Silence
Fills the air as I load my weapon
Stopped has the violence
Ready to kill anyone threatening
Looking around
No one left alive
Drop to my knees on the ground
Tears flow from my eyes
Inside
It hurts what else will it cost
As we protect home with pride
A moment of silence, for those soldiers that we've lost
This war we fight
So all can be free
May our children take flight
And live life peacefully
