My Teachings
Remember what you told me, when I was just a kidYou told me to be a good man, that's the only way to live
To depend on myself, because if I let myself down
That I could pick myself up, from the experiences found
You showed me how to treat women, show respect
If I step out of line, to do a self check
That a kiss on the nose, had so many meanings
Show her what she's worth, to leave her heart screaming
You told me to always be honest, even if it hurts
Never place anything above myself, I always come first
To look a man in the eye, whenever I talk
That any man can say they're a man, it should show in my walk
Remember you told me to keep my head high, even when I'm down
To always pay attention, to those I'm around
You told me it was okay to cry, real men shed tears
And when things are bad, to never show fear
I remember what you taught me, and I live them today
"You'll know the true meaning of life", is what you use to say
Now I see what you meant, it's all to clear
And I'm still learning, but what you said I hold dear
