Pain

  • Always and forever no matter where you are or where you decide to go. My love will be there with you, just wish the two of you would know

Pain

I have not written in while
just been walking and talking, mile after mile
Trying to unmask the key to my inner denial
so that I may finally be able, to change the dial

But it matters not I'll have to admit
What I choose, whether it be to stand or sit
Fakely smile wide, or cry out loud throwing a hissy-fit
I'm still in this damn hole, my bottomless pit

I close my eyes, and what do I see?
That picture you brought home I hadn't yet seen, one of you and me
After I had already gone, you and I weren't even we
knowing always, this isn't how it was supposed to be

I remember when you took it that gorgeous day
Amber's party up north, but I couldn't tell you the way
Yet even that, didn't go as planned I must say
No matter how much we did laugh and play

You tried so hard to make me happy
You left for me, and then it turned out crappy
And yes I know this may sound a little sappy
Thank God we were all ok, even "Daddy"

I held you close and told you we'd be alright
Let me drive the for rest of tonight
You buckled in for the ride, yet still held on tight
Thereafter I washed moose poop off, late into the night

I finally found my one and only place
As I crawled into bed and saw your face
This never entered my mind, not even a trace
That's why this all hit me like a bottle of mace

I always knew I wasn't good enough for you
and I wouldn't be the man to whom you'd say I do
Yet tried so hard to not let it come true
Did everything I could well after my cue

No matter how far away it seems, I tried to push and shove
believe it or not, you're the only girls I shall ever truly love

I just had to grow up once and for all
Did so it seems right before that call

Y'alls house was empty, I'm forever gone for good

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
