    Darkness

     In the dark of the night,
    My heart does ache.
    Though when dawn approaches,
    The pain abates.

    Why only in shadow,
    Does a void consume me?
    Why only in the eve of morning light,
    Do I feel so empty?

    Desolate and alone,
    Consumed by feelings of worthlessness.
    Climbing from this pit of despair,
    Doesn't seem quite worth it.

    The night use to be my sancutary.
    It use to mean solace and peace.
    Now it has become my enemy,
    Offering no rest for me.
