Moments

Moments
Sometimes your walking along,
Or your driving somewhere,
Or your laying in bed about to start your day.
Your just doing you and minding your own business.
Then BAM!
Out of the blue it hits you like a sucker punch to the gut.
That one memory that steals your breath.
That one experience that threw your world off its axis.
That one moment in time that brought you to your knees to the point you werent sure you'd be able to stand back up.
It could have been years ago or something that happened just last week.
Either way your blindsided.
The agony swamps you but you cant show it because you got shit to do.
Errands to run, work to do, life.
People dont know or they just dont understand.
In that moment you cant move, you cant breathe.
You can only feel.
You feel every ounce of pain,
You feel every second of despair,
You feel the overwhelming hoplessness you felt in that moment the memory was created.
Yeah, i hate those moments.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
