    Please Understand

I do not do what I do,
    To cause others pain.
I do not act to cause sorrow,
    Nor for personal gain.

    My actions are caused,
By my lack of trust in my own heart.
For to often when I have followed it,
    It has left me distruaght.

    To many times to count,
I have believed in the wrong person,
Only to have learned to late,
That they would leave me hurt and broken.

    So give me the time,
    Please be patient with me.
One day we will meet in the middle,
And you will have a place in my heart for eternity.

I loved this one for all the wrong reasons, but it reminded me that trust is important, and should be earned and not given.....and TEN

Thank you. I have a few like this and they are all sadly about or based off of my mother.

i understand well about trusting new ppl in your life. its hard when many others betray you especially those whom you once thought as loving family n friends. ive gone through lots too n this poem is right to the point to how i feel at times.

thank you. I don't trust easy but once you are in, you are in for life. and when someone betrays that trust, i can never look at them the same again.

I kind of got this poem but, I really did not know exactly who you were talking to and what the purpose was. This was a pretty good poem just some things I did not understand

thank you. this piece is basically talking to anyone new that comes into my life. upon meeting me most people think im shy or a snob, depending on how charitable their feeling. But i am neither. i just don't trust easily, been stabbed in the back to many times (the worst was my own mother, read betrayal or treachery for a bit of that story). But those that stick around long enough to get to know me and me them learn that they now have a friend for life. they just have to give me time so my heart can allow them in.

thx. funny how when i was young and bad crap happened i didn't really write much but now that i am older a long ago memory will spring to mind and boom... out pops a poem.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
