Surprise Surprise
Gods above, how that hurt.A thousand knives cutting would have drawn less blood.
Crows plucking out my eyes would have blindsided me less.
Breaking my knees could not have dropped me as quick.
Shredding my heart didn't have to cause such a mess.
You could have just told me.
We're both adults, words would have sufficed.
Instead you chose to gut me,
Cruelly and unnecessarily twisting the knife.
But I can take a hint.
Congratulations, you've thoroughly reminded me of my place.
From it I shall not stray again.
Because another blow my mind cannot take.
How stupidly I thought I had found a place,
Where I was accepted for who I am.
But again I am too much,
For anyone to long withstand.
