Pirate Love

Poem Commentary

My latest offering. Hope you like it!

Pirate Love

Hearts soared and sank,

Joy and anguish exploding,

spilling over.

Hate and adoration

of your embrace

spins me torn,

as a lush rose

that shatters skin

with its bitter thorn.

leaving your promise,

for me to return.

Resisting your allure

for a moment,

against torment,

knowing we’ll burn.

Quenching our desire

in everlasting fire.

Consuming our will,

Imperfect, until we are one.

No matter the cost,

what is gained or lost.

Foretold, predicted,

feared and rejected,

a fated longing that

could not be accepted,

or escaped….

Stolen, and pirated for pleasure - taken for self measure. Once again your pen releases what your mind sees and the reader is blessed to experience it all.... "spins me torn, as a lush rose that shatters skin with its bitter thorn." You captured my attention with this stanza. 10

Thanks Soulwriter!. Don't know how I did this one, except to reference a past life experience, I suppose. Thanks for your heartfelt words.

yeah that is the place where souls will waste...a eternal loss with nashing of teeth and bald heads...

I'm not sure if that means you liked it or hated it, but thanks for reading," Pirate Love".

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
