first the hot red fire
flows from molten core
hardened and encasing
until you're something more

a prism full of rainbows
hiding in the dark
crystalline and fractured
waiting for your spark

rough miner with his guilty hands
and pry-bar in your seam
will sever you asunder
but still you'll try to gleam

thrown into a grimy bin
the sisterhood of the broken
forsaken and diminished
you're a flawed and ugly token

until a grasping hand descends
to wrap around your throat
and scrub you in the dirty stream
your potential to denote

next the expert leering eye
assesses every flaw
and with calculated precision
cuts you with his saw

endlessly tumbling round and round
fresh wounds into the salt
now polished to perfection
you're locked in a velvet vault

see the fire flashing
deep within your core
untouchable and self-contained
it's your image they adore

a bright and sparkling surface
with an incandescent sheen
perfect poise and artless grace
demeanor polished and serene

refracted light shines through you
after all you're precious stone
beams multiplied and colorized
but inside you stay alone

the prize jewel of the collection
strikes men with dazzled sight
pasty's cannot shine like this
they haven't earned the right

the damage I have so sustained
has made me who I am
and someday there will come a love
who'll sees what lies within

I hear that, my heart feels the same. This is tough. This reminds of women construction worker I know, coming to work telling us fellows about her love life. Great Poem
