Dead grey masses pull me down

To drown in their abyss

Offended by true colors

Conformity is their bliss

I will not sacrifice myself

Or compromise my mind

I feel no obligation

To make the truth be kind

Your feelings do not dictate

My style of presentation

I’m not here to accommodate

Your intellectual stagnation

Why should reason step aside

To placate your emotions

Or entomology rearrange

To better suit your notions?

Respect for men is not a right

And I will discriminate

For recognizing right from wrong

Is not the same as hate

I will not learn to tolerate

That which I despise

To sugar coat the truth

Is the same as telling lies

Identity is not determined

By the nature of our birth

It’s what we do with this life

That establishes our worth

I will not raise my voice in praise

Or join the mindless crowd

Who, embracing mediocrity

Now wear it like a shroud

Instead I choose to celebrate

What’s admirable and rare

The fully realized potential

Of man unfettered by fear

You don’t like the words I say

Because they’re not “PC”

I don’t like the words you say

Because they're all empty.

"To placate your emotions - I will not learn to tolerate That which I despise"... I so appreciate your style of writing that grows with every write that you share, and I suppose there are penned words that are only read by your eyes,,, however you do not disguise - you keep it real and help others to feel.

Thanks SW - I actually don't do much revising. When I have a few minutes to spare I just write and post. :)

Tender, Your stance of advocating for woman here is commendable and gutsy. ginga

{Identity is not determined By the nature of our birth It’s what we do with this life That establishes our worth} - Haha! Perhaps the very fabric of society's failure and perhaps the very reason for depression. This piece echo's the meaning of the difference between sight and perception. Perhaps we have worshipped man too long and forgot how to spy the sky. Its good to read something like this. As if the blind were leading the blind, then a pair of eyes opened and said "What the fuck were we thinking?" Hahaha. They're not as special as they think. Enjoyed this read.

Thanks Deep! Nice to hear from you :)

Thank You :) (snick, snick, snick - they're always sharp, just usually sheathed)

Glad to see your talent at work again. The closing lines to almost each verse are very strong and well worth remembering. Well done, find a minute, drop me a visit, be well ... nice to see you back

Thanks Ken - hope your world is happy :)

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
