    Poem Commentary

The hunt prevails to feed the cubs that wait.

    The Lion Sleeps

There is a rumble in the field
    The scramble of little paws
Like thunder it's symbols are heard
Like a herd of elephants roar
    Little cubs everywhere

Carried on one leg grabbed by a cub
    Waits to be fed
    Bouncing like balls
    The jelly beans roll
    Symbols bounce off the sky
    The lion sleeps

An orange sky draped with blue
    Turns to a beautiful night
The trees branches heavy with cubs
    The lioness at rest

    Night fall cools the night
    Where the servants crawl
    And animals prey
The shaded trees protects the cubs
WIth the sun brings a new day

    The lions will watch
For the chance to join the hunt

Very picturesque. I really enjoyed reading it. Very descriptive imagery. You painted a festive air in the circle of life's pattern.

I can just feel the evening breezes cooling the Savannah, and imagine a tree draped with lounging lion cubs...Very visual piece! nice work!

I feel like I have been taken on a safari where wild animals are observed and treated with respect. Nice.

It's a good thing the lions sleep now and then, or there might be a lot more trouble for the other animals that constantly have to keep an eye out for the wild lioness on the prowl.......................gogant

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
