Everyday is the same

Poem Commentary

A lot of people are trapped in their bodies with disabilities. Some can never tell you what is wrong. Some hurt and can not say. Some think about how it was. An itch you can't scratch. Everyday is the same. I dedicate this poem to them ,in the hopes for a better understanding.

Everyday is the same

If everyday was the same would we look forward to tomorrow
The difference in today or tomorrow is the joy we bring
If were trapped in a chair
Held hostage within our body
Would you read me a book
We could go back in time
Dream about the days  when life was good
And a day didn't seem so long
I can remember when we used to do a lot of things together
Life didn't seem so bad
Read me a book take me back
Help me to feel tomorrow is worth living
And being trapped in this body
Will make tomorrow worth living

Betty, this is wonderful. Who ever takes time to think about people who can't move? You do. God bless you Betty. Sorry it took so long for me to read this. Hugs.

Thank you I used to work around the alderly. Some could only blink to show emotion due to a stroke. It is sad.I put it into words the best I could. We could never know for sure unless we have been there to know what they feel. Sad but true.

My favorite are the first two lines, those are totally perfect words for this poem.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones because for me every day is a new day. I overlook the ugly and see the beauty; I try to greet everyone I meet with a smile and a word of cheer. I see the beauty in nature and enjoy each season. Each sunrise opens new horizons. To be trapped in a body and mind with negativity would be devastating so I only see positive and try to make each new day the best day of my life. Your poem made me realize just how lucky I am. Thanks for caring and sharing. LOL, BDC

I too feel the way you do but this poem was wrote about people I met truely stuck in a wheel chair .They are in the many rest homes across the country. They do really depend on people like us to bring cheer or a glimmer of hope into their heart. We read it through thier eyes. Many stroke victems experience these feelings.I spent many years helping others. If they could only talk, what would they say? Thank you I enjoy other peoples opinions. It is sad but true.

You are very lucky. Mom and I feel that way to. Good old blood pressure pills help with that right? We know an older gentleman very active ,Takes nothing. Now he is lucky too. Sometimes others aree not.Me I am putting the breaks on .LOL

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
