A Face
A face pressed against a window,
A child's face, full of hope.
Hope to be delivered one day.
Hope to be set free.
A broken window in a darkened home,
The child's face the only light.
A crumbling house, a century empty,
But for the child, a trapped breath of life.
A child's face against a window,
A tear falls down his cheek.
This child, lost in the depths of time,
With no friendly face to guide him.
The face disappears from the window,
Turning to footsteps on the stairs.
An echoing laugh, the laugh of a child,
Turns to tears for his fate.
A face pressed against a window,
A child's face full of hope
Of redemption. His tears and sorrow
Haunt the house forever.
