Autumn
I stand outside on a rainy day,
The raindrops run down my face.
But lost in my mind I don't see the rain -
I see a summer's day.
Although the day is grey and dark,
The sun shines down on me.
Blind to the rain, though I feel it on my skin,
I sit and watch the world.
The golden leaves on majestic trees
Quiver and fall at my feet.
Summer apples, left to rot
Sweetly perfume the air.
Sweet little birds as they fly overhead,
Sing me their lullaby.
I feel peaceful here in the rain and sun,
And I never want to leave.
A flash of lightning, a clap of thunder
Jerk me out of my reverie.
Forced to leave, I say goodbye,
And make my way back to the rain.
