Beautiful
To mankind beauty matters,
The only thing that matters to us.
We prize anything beautiful -
A face, a voice, a work of art.
Even the word - beautiful.
Anything that is 'ugly' we cast aside -
Leave it dead to the world.
But who are we to judge things so?
We cast aside and condemn
So many things that are beautiful -
Beautiful in every way.
Everyone and everything is beautiful,
Beautiful for being what they are.
Why are we all so blind to true beauty?
Every single person is beautiful, special,
But so many are confined to loneliness
Because of us. Only us.
Mankind is so cruel, so unfeeling,
We can never see the pain we cause
All for our love of material beauty,
Our sordid little obsession.
"Beauty knows no pain" -
Our own private excuse.
But we all feel pain,
And we are all beautiful -
How can we still cast others out
And rank ourselves based on looks?
Material beauty and looks fade,
But the beauty of you never will.
