Cold Stone
Sitting alone on a cold stone floor,
Her thoughts are all of him -
How he subtly changed her life
Though she wouldn't let him in.
Frightened by her very soul,
Scared by thoughts of love -
She wouldn't let him close to her
Though he was all she'd ever dreamed of.
But whenever he was near her,
His presence melted her heart.
He was the purpose in her life -
The soul to which she was part.
Her secret love of him
Was requited but never known -
Both kept kept their secrets locked away
And turned their hearts to stone.
Time passed away for these two hearts,
The secrets ate them both away.
And suddenly it was far too late
To say what they had to say.
Now sitting on a cold stone floor,
Letting the time slip by,
She sits and thinks of her warmed heart
And regrets her fear to try.
She had love there in the palm of her hand,
But dropped it out of fear.
And now she is left with her one regret -
That he is not with her here.
