Whatever I May Have Said
Whatever I may have said to you,
Whatever you may have heard,
Please believe me I didn't mean it.
I never meant a single word.
I know I said I couldn't stand you,
But it was always just a lie.
I always wanted to be with you,
I just couldn't bring myself to try.
The courage I needed to tell the truth,
I never had it, from the start
I was too scared of what you'd say,
How you'd react to the story of my heart.
How swiftly flows the river of time,
Flowing away from you and me.
Until the time ran out, I couldn't say
What you meant, and you didn't see.
I kept you away, kept us apart,
I couldn't bear to bring you near.
I was too afraid, I had to leave,
But I only wanted you here.
Your eyes and voice were with me
Forever with me in my dreams.
But I have to tell you of my love
Before I am weighed down by silent screams.
Whatever I said to you in the past,
None of it was true.
You'll always be in my heart, my love,
I have to tell you: I love you.
Keep me with you always, I beg,
Please love me back one day.
I can't tell you in person, this is all I can give.
In this poem is all I can say.
