The Woman in Black
Mist rolls over the water,
Until I can't see around me -
But for the light in the window,
And a woman there I see.
A woman dressed in black,
With scorn on her weathered face.
A vision of horror, I'm frozen in fear –
Trapped alone in this awful place.
A ghost for company I can't go on,
The woman in black is there –
There to revenge her long-ago life,
There to destroy the children we bear.
The woman in black is an omen,
An omen of evil to come.
She brings with her pain and sorrow,
And her spirit just won't move on.
The fog disperses, I look to the sky,
The grey of the sorrow around.
At the window the woman vanishes,
She leaves without a sound.
But I know it won't be long now,
Until the woman comes back.
So I live in fear of the moment,
I am destroyed by the woman in black.
