"Pottsie"
“Pottsie”
we were sitting on concrete blocks
in the alley behind my house
she was drawing little circles on my leg
my hand rested on her knee
we both wanted to take things further
but didn’t know how
we shared each other’s first kiss
in that alley
a surprisingly pleasant kiss
definitely meaningful
at least to me
for her I didn’t know
until some fifty years later
she told her friend
it was a good kiss
and she remembers it still
that is good news
I’ve been to many places
done many things since then
I am sure she can say the same
sometimes it takes a lifetime to know
that what you didn’t know back then
is something you should get to know again
but life is change
one cannot rearrange it
still I wish we could meet again
in the alley behind my house
and share a kiss
