"Gone, But Deeply Loved"
“Gone, But Deeply Loved”
I have been trying too hard
to write a poem of how much
I miss you, so I'm forgetting
about the poem
and just writing to my little sister.
We all love you Grace. I think
mom and I feel
it the most. Not one day drags by
that we don’t think of you, of
how funny you were, how
close we were to each other.
We miss your essence
of sweetness. When you went
away our hearts, minds, and
peace went with you.
No more do any of us
feel complete since you’ve gone.
I visited you Monday and like
every other time, I let the tree
next to your grave support me as
hot tears fell forming a river of pain;
freighters filled with cargoes of hurt
and pain sail on each tear drop
tearing at my soul. I miss you so much,
I am crying again. You were my friend,
my little sister, and sometimes, my support.
As always, I prayed God will tell you
how much I miss you, not how heartbroken
I am. Some days I feel so hopelessly lost,
without my little sister to talk to.
I miss you, Gracie.
