"Whale Surfing"
"Whale Surfing"
Captain Ahab got nothing on me
not on land or below the sea
could anyone match the speed or the beauty
of hitching a board to the tail of a whale
for sure it was a most fortunate day
when first Big Yellar came my way
no one could imagine what friendship
means when first we tied a rope to Yellar's tail
what a way to befriend a whale
but let me try to finish my tale
twarn't too long afore fast friends we were
and I would tie my board to Yellar's tail
across the seas we would fly
I watched the oceans glide on by
as I arode his surf
first it was a friendly thing
just us 2 having a fling
across the waters wide
then I began to tell tall tales
of a boy who could tail a whale
twarn't too long fore this boy was known
as a liar around the world
and people came to see this thing
or more likely win their fortunes
betting against such an unlikely fling
fore too long the purse was set
and time came to sport the bet
I called Big Yellar into port
he was wild while I attached the rope
and climbed aboard my whale surf board
win the bet I surely did and could have
even collected on it
if during our practices I had thought
of a way to say "Whoa Big Yellar"
there is a legend of a Whale Surfer
that on the surface sounds absurd
but it is the truth just take my word
for years of spray have kept me alert
now if I but only had the words
to get Big Yellar to slow down
just a little bit
Please!!!!
