I left My Heart In Indiana, But left a Home In Texas
Is it coincedence that our hearts crossed on poetry's pathlove was carrying the flame, but was it meant to last
Old memories restored upon the winter's cold
I've found a new passion watching stories unfold
I grew up in Indiana thirty years ago
moved to Texas when I was twelve years old
I left a home down south, but my hearts in Indiana
lived with my mom and stepdad from Alabama
When I came back To Indiana I was eighteen
got me a job and started checking out the scene
Started young playing basketball in the drive
a twin brother competetive and so alive
We did most everything we could together
our heart joined by love that would last forever
A sad day came when we went our ways
I was 18 years old, it was time for a change
I was an original hoosier , born here and raised
at the ripe age of 18 started taking to the page
Put the pen into action and began writing
sometimes struggling with words in my mind fighting
I would write about love and two hearts united
I wrote about my brother and God whom I'd invited
years ago to dwell in a loving heart
brother I love you though we are miles apart
I remember how it was from the start
We shared poetry, it was our gifted art
Love can never change what we have brother
I know I left Texas, but home is in another
state, Indiana is where I grew to know
everything in life that my mom and dad came to show
Brother you are always on my mind
I can connect with you on the phone line
anytime I want to chat, I can pick up the phone
and for those thirty minutes we chat, I'm not alone
I have you on the other end, my longtime friend
thirty years we have shared hearts, I hold your love within
You are special, love is like a star in your eyes
it burns bright, I know you always realized
how much we need each other
I'm so thankful to have you as my brother
