The Dry Season
Grandeur mountain ranges high above sleepless oceansmajestic skies with heartbeats never dry of emotion
the streams as clear as glass eyes are alive
the grass in the meadows scorched, will it survive
the earth's tears sink to my bones, they shiver so deep inside
the mouth of caves will roar as the silence dies
within a heart of gold melted down to gilt
the dry season comes, as eyes watch the world wilt
taken captive, your words are like a ghost
they vanish the moment you speak, now here's a toast
a toast to the world, to honor the most high
please bring rain Father, the barren earth is so dry
not even a leaf stirs, not even an echo from the wind
not even a dark cloud, to send the rains once again
when will the curse break and rain return to earth
when will the skies open and pour upon this dirt
