There's Always A Smile
God could only make one of youhe didn't split any genes and make two
He made you unique in his eyes
He made you sweet and the right size
doesn't matter the time it took
there's always a smile when I look
though it's not a physical action I face
I draw a picture of you , then trace
all the lines , connecting the dots
hoping to hit all the sweet spots
but in your mind it's not candy coated
though years appearance has eroded
but the sparkle it never fades
your eyes still display that gaze
a heart of gold you hold
it could never grow cold
all the warmth from embrace
all the tears I can taste
sweet memories will last
though life's highway is fast
some wrong turns, here and there
a U turn I was aware
that you were looking back
to the 31 years that I've tracked
lots have happened since then
but I'm far from the end
forever my friend to be
so very special you are to me
forever is it enough time
to watch these years rewind
