The Journey to Zion
I'm ready to pursue the journey to ZionYou charged my heart just like an ion
I woke up just like any other day
got dressed and went about my way
I ignored you as I do best
left without saying goodbye, no regret
I fancy myself on telling lies
a spoken prophecy thats on the rise
I open my eyes and blink for a sec
is life just pain , but a bitter train wreck
I never held luck, never took the shot
I always forgot that the door was locked
threw away the key and travelled on
in a few minutes I'll be off and gone
Taking the high road, never the low
rather walk fast, never dragging slow
I see the train cars that pass by
see my life flash as I lay down to die
in between lifes track of iron and wood
never pictured life as glamorous as hollywood
So I sit under the stars at night
the midnight glow of the moon so bright
rhymes flow like the stream to Zion
rummage my knapsack as these tracks just go on
running scared, and endless in my embrace
the only clear picture painted is your face
as I lay on these tracks and wait
I see the sparks flying as the train brakes
Was I running to start a new life
I was kneeling down praying to Christ
on these tracks that had become my new home
with God as my copilot I was never alone
So in those last seconds I took a deep breath
as I let out a sigh, embracing my own death
Life never looked so beautiful, what did I have left
all the rues of a broken life in distress
Hope was hanging by a mere thread
I was waiting seconds till I was dead
the rails were as hot as coals and fire red
I could see the clouds of smoke rising from my new bed
I laid there waiting calling out to Christ
Why was I laying there , giving up my life
just seconds before impact was made
an angel lifted me up and I was saved
Have you ever lost track of what really matters
watched all your dreams in life slowly shatter
Did you ever wish to never know pain
why then do we face death just to pursue gain
Did you ever lose sight of the sole purpose
only to fall drowning below the surface
falling deep into the chasms of life
never pursing a relationship with Christ
