When God Smiles

Is a rainbow God's way of smiling?
Is there a large cabinet of names God is filing?
Is a thought more than just a faded out dream?
When God smiles does it embrace the unseen?

When God smiles it must span across the oceans
across rocky plains and mountain tops
When God smiles it touches inner emotions
where my heart skips a beat then stops
and for that quick second I am lost
as I look to heaven's blue skies
and I remember that man on the cross
teardrops of mercy falling from wet eyes

I've gotten the sense that this arc speaks more
we may not find gold, but maybe be led to an open door
I've cued in on the depths of scientific matter
if when God smiles do all our frowns shatter

My heart follows the rythem of the ticking clock
racing and pacing in circles , the hands pass
I feel the cold air from the hole in my sock
When God smiles , does the devil laugh

I've always searched for answers to these questions
but it seems there just an iceberg of confessions
perhaps it's like the one that took the titanic down
When God smiles, I hope it shatters this frown
