Bargain With God
'Tis 3pm and God is waiting
For his son David to come to life
But David is resistant
His girl and her uncle
Have been praying and praying
For David to see the light
Finally fed up with her plea
He tells her he'll make a deal
As he sets to watch the Dodgers
That if God makes the next batter
Hit a home run on the first swing
He'll give his life to the King
Gina shakes her head
Looks up to Heaven in despair
Hoping David hasn't made his bed
But God was listening and is ready
Then David smiles at the next batter
The strike out king is at the plate
To make his try with three men on
Two outs down and one to go
The Dodgers losing 1 to nothing
David laughs out loud
Says that God hasn't got a chance
Then to his horror and surprise
As Gina holds her breath
The strike out king swings
An eerie hush fills the room
Time slows to less than a crawl
Then crack, the king connects
All are amazed as the ball flies high
And flies and flies and flies
High over the fence into fair play
Four runs in to save the day
David's mouth drops ten feet down
While Gina's smile runs a mile
As she cheers God's clever move
For now David has no choice
He's the Lord's, his soul to take
On his knees as he prays
With Gina at his side
And Jesus standing nearby
Here David sits and fulfills
His bargain with God
