Protector
A baby born in mid-summerAnd when he visits his grandparents
Their yellow dog barks and snarls
For he doesn't like the baby
He fears what he doesn't understand
But when anyone goes near the babe
He's ready with a growl, standing guard
Letting no one pass, if one tries
He shows his teeth, as to say, just try
To make sure no one steals the baby
Parents and grandparents alike, beware
For yellow dog watches his own
He does not judge or discern
He may not even like the baby
But no one will get near him
The babe is well protected
For as long as he stays
As he sits in that yard and plays
Yellow dog is on the job
